Torch Relay In Richmond

With just a few days to go until the lighting of the Olympic cauldron, the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay has reached Richmond, the site of the Olympic Oval. The flame is now within touching distance of the host city, and the athletes of the world are finalising their preparations just across the water from the ceremonies venue, at the Vancouver Olympic Village.

Man In Motion

The final torchbearer of the day was Rick Hansen, a former athlete, who wheelchaired around the world to raise awareness of people with disabilities. Hansen, who is one of the mayors of the of the Vancouver Olympic Village, was also present during the unveiling and signing of the Olympic Truce Wall earlier that day in the Village.

Vancouver and Whistler will host the XXI Olympic Winter Games from 12 to 28 February 2010 and the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games from 12 to 21 March 2010. The seven winter Olympic sports that will be on show in Vancouver are luge, skiing, skating, ice hockey, biathlon, bobsleigh and curling
