Three months to go until the 117th IOC Session in Singapore


In three months, on 6 July 2005, the 117th IOC Session will begin in Singapore. It is the first time that the city of Singapore has hosted an IOC Session. The main decision to be taken by the 117 IOC members will be for the election of the host city for the Games of the XXX Olympiad in 2012. The members will also review the programme of Olympic sports. Furthermore, they will receive a full report on the progress made by the Organising Committees for the Games in Turin in 2006, Beijing in 2008 and Vancouver in 2010, as well as on the work achieved by the IOC commissions and administration.




Detailed programme
The Session will be opened on 5 July 2005 at 7 p.m. (11:00 GMT + 8) in the Esplanade Theatre in Singapore. The session of 6 July will begin with the presentations by the candidate cities, in the following order:




- 9.00 a.m. Paris
- 10.30 a.m. New York
- 12.00 p.m. Moscow
- 2.30 p.m. London
- 4.00 p.m. Madrid




At 5.15 p.m., the IOC Evaluation Commission Chairwoman, Nawal el Moutawakel, will present her report, which will be followed by the IOC members’ vote. The result will be announced by IOC President Jacques Rogge at 7.30 p.m. (11:30 GMT + 8).




Evaluation Commission report in two months
The next important stage in the selection of the host city for the 2012 Games will be the publication of the Evaluation Commission’s report on 6 June 2005. This report will be made public and will be available on the IOC’s web site: www.olympic.org.
