The Olympic Games Study Commission

The Olympic Games Study Commission presented its report to the 115th IOC Session in Prague in July 2003. The report contained a number of recommendations on how to reduce the size, cost and complexity of organising the Olympic Games.

The recommndations focussed on 5 areas of the organisation of the Games:

- Games Format
- Venues and Facilities
- Games Management
- Number of accredited persons
- Service Levels

Having successfully achieved its mandate, the IOC President subsequently dissolved the Commission and the next stage in the process is to ensure the recommendations are successfully implemented by current and future Organising Committees of the Olympic Games. In order to achieve this, there will be ongoing discussions with the relevant parties over the next few months and the IOC will closely monitor the implementation phase over the months and years to come.
