The Lausanne Olympic Museum in Turin
With the purpose of collecting sports equipment and other items as a record of the XX Olympic Winter Games, a team from the Museology section, assisted by two volunteers, is currently in Turin to establish contact with the participants, champions, coaches, chefs de mission and volunteers.
At the heart of the Games
With two offices, one in Turin, the other in Sestriere, at the heart of the Olympic Village in the international zone, plus a desk at the Medals Plaza where the public medals award ceremony is held every evening, it is certain to be a bumper harvest!
Items collected on show at the Museum
The objects secured during this mission will be displayed at the Olympic Museum after the Games. Visitors will thus be able to see them again and recall the victories, defeats, joy and sorrow, in short all the mythical moments which make up the daily reality of these Olympic Winter Games, being held for the second time in Italy after Cortina d’Ampezzo exactly 50 years ago. Some items will remain on show; others will join the 150,000 catalogued objects which make up the Museum’s Olympic heritage.
