The IOC President welcomes the Olympic Flame to Lausanne

To celebrate the arrival of the Olympic flame in Lausanne, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Jacques Rogge, will welcome the relay runner passing in front of the IOC headquarters at Vidy at 6.15 p.m today. The relay will stop for 15 minutes and the President will give a short speech, before the flame continues on its way at 6.30 p.m. All media wishing to cover the event are welcome.


The President will himself carry the Olympic torch on the quai d'Ouchy at 7.42 p.m. He will receive the flame from Denis Oswald, the Chairman of the Coordination Commission for the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad in 2004 in Athens, and pass the torch on in front of the Olympic Museum fountain.
