The IOC grants accreditation to the Salt Lake City temporary laboratory

The temporary laboratory set up in Salt Lake City for the duration of the XIX Olympic Winter Games from 8 to 24 February has received accreditation from both the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the American ISO standardisation body (A2LA – American Association for Laboratory Accreditation).

Under the leadership of Prof. Don Catlin, Director of the IOC accredited laboratory at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), the Salt Lake City laboratory is the first temporary laboratory to receive ISO accreditation.

This laboratory, located in the premises of the Associated Regional and University Pathologists (ARUP) in Salt Lake City, features leading technology enabling some 1,000 urine and blood samples, collected during the Olympic Games, to be analysed.
