Sven Kramer aims for a hat-trick in Sochi

The son of a leading Dutch skater specialising in the marathon, Sven Kramer has decided to make up for his Vancouver 2010 disappointment in Sochi. Back then, he had won gold in the 5,000m and was aiming at three gold medals.

But the Dutch was disqualified from the 10,000m final, despite skating the best time, after changing lanes on the erroneous instruction of his coach. Back at the highest level after missing the 2010-2011 season due to injury, Sven let everyone know he was back by winning the 2013 World and European All-round competitions.

He is now ready to go for the hat-trick (5,000m, 10,000m and team pursuit) in the Adler arena at the heart of Sochi’s Olympic Park next February.
