Staying healthy on the road with Miles Chamley-Watson
Being on the road, with long periods away from home, is something a lot of athletes have to get used to and accept as part of the job. But, while travelling from one international competition to another may sound glamorous, the reality is often far from it and if you are not careful all that living out of a suitcase can have a detrimental effect on your health.
In this, the first film in our new Learn & Share series aimed specifically at competitive athletes, we follow world champion fencer Miles Chamley-Watson (USA) at the 2014 World Fencing Championships in Kazan as he talks us through how he stays healthy on the road.
Giving us access all areas, Miles - who served as an Athlete Role Model at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games - shares his tips for coping with time differences and managing your diet in a foreign country, while offering his advice for preparing for competition and revealing what essentials he can’t live without.
