Sportstar Awards 2004


On Monday 18 October, the SportStar Awards 2004 ceremony will take place at the Olympic Museum in the presence of Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee, Juan Antonio Samaranch, Honorary President for Life, Mario Pescante, President of the European Olympic Committees, many International Summer Sports Federation presidents and Eurosport representatives.




Awards for European Olympic athletes
These trophies pay tribute to European Olympic and Paralympic athletes who took part in Athens 2004.




Third edition of the SportStar Awards
Organised for the first time in October 2000 after the Sydney Games, this event was created by the Eurosport television channel with the support of the International Olympic Committee. Its aim is to honour the European Olympic athletes and promote the fundamental values of sport.




Eurosport, IOC partner
On 23 June 1993, anniversary of the creation of the International Olympic Committee by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, Juan Antonio Samaranch, then-IOC President, inaugurated the Olympic Museum and simultaneously launched Olympic Magazine, a monthly Eurosport programme whose reports cover subjects as varied as Olympic history, sports performances and the position of the International Olympic Committee.
