Lausanne, 29 February 2000. - What:
The second IOC World Conference on Women and Sport will be organized from 6 through 8 March 2000 in Paris, France, in cooperation with the French National Olympic and Sport Committee (CNOSF). This conference will provide a unique opportunity to assess the progress accomplished in the advancement of women in the sporting world and the Olympic Movement while also celebrating the hundredth anniversary of female participation in the Olympic Games.

The Conference will be opened by Ms Marie-George Buffet, French minister of youth and sport, the IOC President, and Mr Henri Sérandour, president of the CNOSF. The opening session will include the presentation of the IOC Women and Sport Trophy, which is awarded in recognition of outstanding achievements in promoting the participation of women and girls in sport and its leadership.
The conference will conclude on 8 March, International Women’s Day.

The media representatives will be allowed in the conference room where they will be able to follow the presentations and take part in the discussions from Monday 6 March at 09h00.

Media facilities:
A pressroom with all the necessary working facilities will be located near the main meeting room (International Conference Centre, rooms 6 and 7).

Media must be accredited to participate. The accreditation form may be requested from the IOC Communications Department on (41.21) 621 61 11 or can be downloaded from the IOC website.

Accrediations can be picked up at the International Conference Centre on Sunday 5 March from 15h00 to 18h00 and on Monday 6 March from 08h00.

Accommodation and transportation:
Arrangements should be made individually by each participant. Please note that March is a high-season period in Paris and that room availability is limited.

A courtesy transportation service will run daily (mornings and evenings) from Sofitel Paris Porte de Sèvres, Mercure Paris Suffren, Novotel Paris Vaugirard, Ibis Paris Cambronne Tour Eiffel and Ibis Paris Montparnasse hotels to the International Conference Centre.
