Second International Sport and Architecture Conference

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (4 June 2002) -

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Union of Architects (UIA) will be holding their second joint conference in Lausanne on 8 and 9 June 2002. The theme for this year's conference is "Architecture International Sporting Events".


This conference builds on the success of the May 2001 conference on "Olympic Games Architecture". It will explore further the issues involved in creating facilities for major sporting events and stress the need for innovation, progress and sustainable development, drawing on the lessons of the past in the design of avant-garde projects.
