Rio 2016’s education programme arrives in Belo Horizonte

The Rio 2016 education programme, Transforma, has arrived in the city of Belo Horizonte, where it will become part of the curriculum at 74 schools. This expansion means that about 187,000 students will now benefit from the Games educational platform.

Commenting at the announcement, Mariana Behr, Rio 2016’s Head of Education, said: “This partnership demonstrates our commitment to involve the whole country in the educational legacy of the Games.”

The Transforma programme promotes the Olympic and Paralympic values and brings students and teachers closer to the Games. The programme helps to introduce Olympic and Paralympic sports to the participating schools and the local community. Transforma is scheduled to be expanded to other regions of Brazil this year, while teachers from around Brazil can already download teaching materials and lesson suggestions from the programme’s dedicated website.
