Relive the magic of Innsbruck 2012 one year on!
A year ago today we watched Japan’s Sara Takanashi soar into the history books as she became the first ever women’s ski jumper to take to the podium at an Olympic event at the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games.
That’s a lot of firsts. And it was just the beginning of what was a dramatic, thrilling and sometimes extraordinary 10 days of sporting action during Innsbruck 2012.
Officially opened in spectacular style at the iconic Bergeisel Stadium on 13 January 2012, the Innsbruck 2012 Youth Olympic Games saw over 1,000 young athletes compete alongside each other, but also learn, grow and laugh together.
It was a memorable time, not just for the athletes but for everyone involved on the ground and for the fans following at home; and for the next week we will be reliving the magic, remembering some special moments and saying thank you for the memories!
