President Rogge at the Kremlin

The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Jacques Rogge, had a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, on Monday. Their discussions centred on the place and development of sport within the Russian Federation. The role of Russia in the fight against doping and future Olympic Games were also discussed. President Putin then hosted a dinner for Russian sports representatives and IOC members Vitaly Smirnov, Shamil Tarpischev, Alexander Popov, Sergey Bubka, René Fasel, Patrick Joseph Hickey and Philip Craven.
The following day, the IOC President presented the Olympic Order to Russian Olympic Committee President Leonid Tyagachev, at a ceremony attended by IOC members Ottavio Cinquanta, Irena Szewinska and Gian-Franco Kasper.
The IOC President also attended the Kremlin Cup tennis tournament, accompanied by Shamil Tarpischev.
