President Bach joins fellow Olympians at the World Olympians Forum in Moscow
International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach today joined more than 150 Olympians from 120 countries in Moscow for the first World Olympians Association Forum.
President Bach told the Olympians: “Olympians are at the heart of the Olympic Movement. You are the main representatives of our ideals. You make our values and our messages tangible for millions of people worldwide.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin also addressed the Forum: “Athletes are real ambassadors of peace. They represent respect, fair play and openness.”
The Forum adopted a declaration presented by World Olympians Association (WOA) President Joël Bouzou that supports the Olympic Charter and the IOC reforms under Olympic Agenda 2020. It calls on Olympians to:
· Spread the spirit and practice of Olympism;
· Work for peace and a better life through sport;
· Help Olympians once they cease to compete with their health and careers; and
· Oppose political interference in sports autonomy, particularly boycotts
The IOC President later met privately with Russian President Putin. The two leaders discussed the important role of sport in society and the great opportunities in Russia with regard to the new Olympic Channel.
