Olympic torch relay song: pass the flame
The first global Torch Relay in the history of the Olympic Games, the motto of which is "Pass the Flame, Unite the World", now has its very own song.
The CD single featuring the song, called "Pass The Flame", is a joint product of EMI Music International, the International Olympic Committee, and the Organising Committee for the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad in Athens.
It contains three versions of the song: one with English and one with Greek lyrics and an instrumental arrangement. The CD goes on sale on 29 March 2004.
Top composer and producer
Pass The Flame is the work of top composer and producer Trevor Horn, in collaboration with Lol Crème. Horn’s name is linked with some of the world’s best-known performers (including Paul McCartney, Bryan Ferry, Pet Shop Boys and Art of Noise).
Sung by Yiannis Kotsiras
Lina Nicolacopoulou wrote the Greek lyrics, while Yiannis Kotsiras sings on both the Greek and English versions. Star performers from various countries can be heard in the vocals, their presence expressing the spirit of the universal Torch Relay and its motto: Pass the Flame – Unite the World.
Accompanying the flame on its voyage
Pass The Flame, the theme song of the Olympic Torch Relay, reflects its values and is the cultural medium for spreading them around the world. Pass The Flame will accompany the Olympic flame as it goes on its universal voyage.
