Olympic Solidarity athlete wins bronze!

Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva, an Olympic Solidarity athlete, won bronze in the women’s 15km individual event. After a season of injuries she realised her Olympic dream thanks to her strong determination: “It’s not easy to have an Olympic medal. It’s very difficult work.” said Darya after her big success and added: “The hardest part is fighting, fighting, fighting everyday, just with myself.

Olympic Solidarity provided Darya with a scholarship to support her on her way to Vancouver, and she explains: “The programme helps young athletes to prepare without financial problems making things difficult. With the assistance of Olympic Solidarity, I was able to complete my rehabilitation after a difficult season.”
