OLYMPIC MUSEUM TO HOST INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON VOLUNTEERS, GLOBAL SOCIETY AND THE OLYMPIC MOVEMENT


Lausanne, 19 November 1999 - What:
The International Symposium on Volunteers, Global Society and the Olympic Movement will be held in Lausanne next week. This Symposium is the fourth organised by the International Chair in Olympism of the Autonomous University of Barcelona in collaboration with the Museum and Olympic Studies Centre.

The Symposium will be divided into three parts:
- Analysis of volunteers as a social phenomenon in the XXth Century.
- Analysis of the historic evolution of the olympic volunteers through past and future experiences.
- Analysis of the practical experience of the volunteers in the context of major sports events.

The Symposium will give particular importance to participation via the Internet. Information on the Symposium including the various speeches and communications given will be available at the Symposium website address. From 26 October there will be a special forum to promote exchanges of experiences between Olympic and sports volunteers.
