The Olympic master’s degree programme was born from the Athens 2004 Olympic Education Programme. It continues to be taught at the University of Peloponnese with the support of the International Olympic Academy under the name of: Olympic Studies, Olympic Education, Organisation and Management of Olympic Events.
The course runs over three semesters and currently admits 40 students per year. Since it began, it has admitted students representing 72 countries. The course promotes knowledge and research on issues related to Olympic philosophy and education, organisation and management of the Olympic Games, big athletic events and, more generally, Olympic and athletic studies.
It also helps create a specialised workforce qualified to organise and manage Olympic and athletic institutions, promote the growth of Olympic education programmes at international level and contribute to the creation of a scientific base for the growth and organisation of sports.
