Find out more about the Head of Games Delivery Paris 2024 position through an interview with Pierre Ducrey, Olympic Games Associate Director.
Could you describe the position in a few words?
This new role is a result of the New Norm, the 118 measures that were recently adopted by the IOC Session to fundamentally rethink the Olympic Games – from candidature to Games delivery and legacy. Moving forward, the IOC will be working even closer with the various Olympic Games Organising Committees and key delivery partners to co-construct the respective projects and support optimal delivery of the Games. This position will play an essential role in ensuring that close partnerships between all key stakeholders are in place and that the Paris 2024 project fully embraces the opportunities offered by the New Norm whilst making sure the experience of the participants, and athletes in particular, remains of the highest quality.
What are the skills you are looking for?
We are looking for a dynamic and flexible professional with experience in the delivery of the Olympic Games and proven ability to lead operational teams and support efficient decision-making. His/her knowledge of large-scale-events delivery and the capacity to establish strong and constructive relationships, within the IOC and with the Organising Committees, host city authorities and other relevant delivery partners, will be essential.
Who would be the ideal candidate?
We are looking for someone who would be highly collaborative in nature and solution-oriented. His/her ability to adapt, his/her positive attitude but also his/her keen sense of priority and diligence will be essential to accompany the type of transformation that the implementation of the New Norm will bring to the partnerships between all stakeholders involved in the delivery of the Games.
What makes this job a unique opportunity?
With the implementation of the New Norm, the IOC is creating a new way of doing things that will change the way the Olympic Games are being delivered. The person recruited for this role will have a unique opportunity to contribute to an evolution that will shape the future of the Olympic Games.
Why should somebody want to join your team/the IOC?
Our team is enthusiastic, dynamic and always striving to evolve. The environment we work in has an international outlook and is very stimulating. We offer to our team members the opportunity to collaborate on an event that brings together a city, a region and a country like no other and leaves legacies for the next generations.
