Olympic champions visit Singapore Friendship Camp

Olympic champions Michael Klim, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Asafa Powell and Jamaican sprinter Dexter Lee found a break in their busy schedules to drop in on young athletes participating in the Friendship Camp last week, an event that took place in Singapore in December as part of the pre-Games activities.

Over 400 young athletes from around the world gathered in the host city to test out some of the exciting activities from the Culture and Education Programme that will be introduced at the Games in August 2010. Athletes from 130 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) participated in a variety of games, discussions and workshops with Singaporean student athletes.

The main objective of the camp was to promote the Olympic values among participants, providing them with a unique experience and the opportunity to form life-long friendships.

The highlight of the camp was the ‘Chat with Champions’ CEP activity, where athletes got the opportunity to ask the sports stars questions and ended with an impromptu dance from Asafa Powell!
