OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THE 112TH IOC SESSION GOES ONLINE AT WWW.MOSCOW2001.OLYMPIC.ORG

Lausanne, 7 June 2001 - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has just launched the official website of its 112th Session, which will take place in Moscow from 13 to 16 July 2001. The site will give a large audience the opportunity to follow the two main events of the Session:

the election of the host city of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008
the election of the 8th IOC President

A detailed programme of the Session, the files of the candidate cities for the organisation of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008, including the Evaluation Commission report which was made public on 15 May, and information on the candidates for the IOC presidency are already available.

An Olympiad-by-Olympiad history of President Samaranch’s presidency can also be found online.

Visitors to this French/English factual site can surf the history of events from 1980 to 2001, including the defining moments of the history of the Olympic Games, from the election of President Samaranch in Moscow in 1980 to that of his successor in 2001.

The technological infrastructure set up in Moscow will make it possible, from 13 to 16 July, to follow the highlights of the event in real time.

The site of the 112th IOC Session in Moscow can be accessed from the IOC website.
