The Turin 2006 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Volunteer Programme, "Noi2006" is about to be launched. In this initial phase of the programme, the Turin Organising Committee (TOROC) is looking to find potential partners from the world of sport and volunteers - "allies" to promote the Olympic values, encourage people to become involved and enhance the value of the work of the various associations.
Applications as from January 2004
All those interested in taking part in the programme will be required to submit the appropriate application form, which will be published on the www.torino2006.org website as from January 2004.
20,000 volunteers as true hosts
"We expect the 'Noi2006' programme to involve something in the region of 20,000 people who are willing to place themselves at the service of the athletes, the public, their country and their city", said Valentino Castellani, President of TOROC. "The volunteers will be the true 'hosts' of these Games. They will welcome guests and be fundamental to the smooth running of sports venues and villages, ski-slopes and stadiums. This is a great challenge, and one in which TOROC aims to succeed with the support of the whole area".
