Following the successful activation at the Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020, the “Believe in Sport” campaign will now be deployed at the four continental boxing qualifying events for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, to take place between February and April.
Before these competitions, all International Technical Officials (ITOs) will have to undergo the e-learning programme about competition manipulation in order to be eligible. During the events, members of the Olympic Movement Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions (OM Unit PMC) and “Believe in Sport” ambassadors will meet with the athletes and their entourages in order to make them aware of the rules, such as the prohibition of betting on boxing events or any other events on the Olympic programme.
Before competing at the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer, all qualified boxing athletes will have to undergo the e-learning programme. The OM Unit PMC will also work with other International Federations (IFs) and National Olympic Committees (NOCs) in the run-up to and during the Olympic Games in order to reach out to as many athletes and coaches as possible. More details will be revealed in the next newsletter.
