New record for more than 5 million visitors

From 10 to 26 February 2006, the Olympic Movement’s web site attracted 5,002,736 visits. Approximately 32,323,294 page views were recorded in only 16 days. This historic report shows a 100% increase from the previous highs recorded just after the Athens 2004 Olympic Summer Games.

The top five countries
The top five countries visiting were: the United States of America: 2,151,494 unique visitors; Canada: 716,277 unique visitors; Great Britain: 210,164 unique visitors; France: 206,164 unique visitors; and Australia: 96,261 unique visitors.

During the Turin Games, 56 news stories were posted on the home page of Visitors were invited to discover a three-dimensional virtual Olympic Village which featured a behind-the-scenes look at the Turin Games, a special Games Gallery, the Olympic House, the Bulletin Board, an Anti-Doping Centre, and the Media Press Centre. In conjunction with KODAK, a special dedicated gallery was also created to promote the best snapshots of the Torino 2006 Games.

17,440 participants in web site competition
So far, 17,440 participants have taken part in the online competition on Contestants are currently testing their Olympic trivia knowledge by answering four Olympic-related questions. Thirteen days remain, so there is still a chance to win the official video game of the Torino 2006 Games, in either Playstation, Xbox or PC format. Two-hundred-and-fifty “Torino 2006” games are available. The contest comes to a close on 15 March 2006 so you still have time! The winners will be chosen by prize draw.

More than just Torino 2006
As a reference web site for the Olympic Games, provides information, results, photos and videos on all the editions of the Olympic Games since 1896, including details of outstanding performances from over 400 athletes. All the sports on the Olympic programme are also explained and illustrated in Macromedia Flash, making the online experience very exciting. A special section is devoted to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, enabling visitors to discover the Museum by taking an online tour.
