New Director For The Olympic Museum In Lausanne

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has the pleasure to announce the appointment of Mr Francis Gabet to the position of Director of the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.

Mr Gabet was, until now, Director of the L'Équipe brand, the top French sports daily, which he joined in 1989 as Marketing and Communications Director. Before that, Mr Gabet devoted ten years to his career in advertising, occupying several key positions in the Havas Advertising group, including that of Associate Commercial Director. A French national aged 49, Mr Gabet is a great rugby enthusiast and a former second-division player.

"This new role is, for me, both a great pleasure and a very great honour," said Mr Gabet. "I should like to thank all the teams, led by Mrs Zweifel, that have made this Museum a magical place. We shall try in the future to strengthen and build on this magnificent legacy."

Mr Gabet succeeds Mrs Françoise Zweifel and will take up his role on 24 September 2003.

The Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland’s second most-visited museum, is this year celebrating its 10th anniversary and in the next few days will welcome its two-millionth visitor.
