Nanjing 2014 YOG family pays a visit to Olympic capital

Everyone loves a family holiday: time away from the stresses and strains of day-to-day life to spend quality time with your nearest and dearest.

But the Huang Haito family have embarked on no ordinary sun, sea and sand family holiday… Oh no! Sarah and her cousin plus Sarah’s mum and dad decided to spend the summer driving across Asia and Europe to spread the word that the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games will be taking place in Nanjing, China, next August.

Last week, their travels brought them to Lausanne, Switzerland, the home of the International Olympic Committee, in time for the announcement of the host city for the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2018. After travelling a total of 35,000km over three months we were surprised to see the whole family still smiling and in good YOG spirits!

The girls told us they have loved travelling through the countryside of Europe, but they still miss their Chinese food so cook for themselves to remind them of home.
Next stop on their journey is southern Germany, and they still have two months left of travel before they return home to Nanjing in time for school to start again in September.

Happy travelling and thanks for spreading the YOG spirit!
