- Athlete Stories
Maike is one of Germany's top heptathletes. Unfortunately, injuries over the past two years nearly ended her sports career. Maike did not want to give up after all the years of training, but she realised that she could not rely purely on athletics for a career. Maike worked in retail while she tried to get her athletics career back on track. However, juggling both work and training was tough. The Olympic organisation recommended the IOC ACP, and Maike soon met with Adecco account executive Sebastian Krolczik, at Adecco's Cologne office. Krolczik said: "Maike was highly motivated, both in her sport and work. We soon identified an ideal opportunity at one of the world's largest tire companies for Maike to work as a personal assistant on a flexible 30-hour week." Maike adds, "My workplace is just around the corner from home, so it is easy for me to get to both work and training. This is ideal for me."
