Looking for rhythm in Athens
The Athens International Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament gets underway today at the newly completed Galatsi Olympic Hall, which will host the table tennis and rhythmic gymnastics events during the Olympic Games.
The tournament will have a senior category for both Individuals and Groups and will follow the same competition format as the Olympic Games. The competition will be conducted according to the 2002 Edition of the FIG Technical Regulations and the 2001 Edition of the FIG Code of Points for Rhythmic Gymnastics, which includes updates from 2002 and 2003. Qualifications will take place on Monday and Tuesday, with the Group final being held on Tuesday and the Individual final taking place on Wednesday.
Rhythmic Gymnastics at the Olympic Games
The rhythmic gymnastics event will take place at the Galatsi Olympic Hall, which has a seating capacity of 6,000, from 26 to 29 August 2004. There will be around 80 gymnasts competing from approximately 20 countries.
