IOC, WADA ISSUE NEW LIST OF PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES AND METHODS
Lausanne, 1 June 2001 - New List Goes into Effect on 1 September
The International Olympic Committee (IOC), in collaboration with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) today published a common list of prohibited substances and methods which will remain valid until the end of 2002.
This new list, which was approved by the IOC Executive Board during its meeting on 17 May upon the recommendation of WADA and in agreement with the IOC Medical Commission, will enter into force on 1 September 2001, three months after its notification to International Federations (IFs) and National Olympic Committees (NOCs).
Following a recommendation of the IOC Medical Commission, this list clearly reinforces the control on anti-asthmatic medications at the time of the Olympic Games.
