IOC to negotiate Canadian Olympic broadcast rights
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will hold final discussions with Canadian broadcasters on 7 February in Lausanne. Chaired by IOC President Jacques Rogge and led by IOC Executive Board Member Richard L. Carrión, an IOC team will meet with Canadian broadcasters and then announce who has been chosen to broadcast in Canada the XXI Olympic Winter Games in 2010 and the Games of the XXX Olympiad in 2012.
The proceedings of the meetings will not be open to media but a press conference will be organised at the end of the day. The details will be as follows:
Date: Monday, 7 February 2005
Time: 9 p.m. Lausanne time
Place: IOC Headquarters
Teleconference: +41 91 610 5655, pin code 1211#
Please confirm your participation to the IOC Communications Department on +41 21 621 6111, fax: +41 21 621 6356, e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
Further to the successful negotiations conducted in the United States in 2003 and in Europe last year, the IOC will use the same fair and competitive tendering process for Canada. The process is designed to select the broadcasters that can best serve the ideals and interests of the Olympic Movement by ensuring that the coverage of the Olympic Games meets the highest possible standards and reaches the broadest possible audience.
