IOC TO HOLD ITS NEXT EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING IN SYDNEY

Lausanne, 5 January 2000 - In response to an invitation from the Organizing Committee of the Games of the XXVII Olympiad in Sydney in 2000 (SOCOG), the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will hold its next meeting in Sydney on 16-18th February 2000.
This meeting gives the IOC the chance to demonstrate the great importance of these Games for the Olympic Movement and an opportunity to show our absolute support for the Organizing Committee of these Games, seven months before they open.
This IOC Executive Board meeting in Sydney also coincides with meetings of the Executive Board of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), which will be held a few days earlier, and the IOC Co-ordination Commission for the Sydney Games. As a result, all these important meetings can be held during a single period, and the IOC Executive Board will have an excellent opportunity to conduct with SOCOG a full review of all aspects of the final stages of preparations for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
The meeting that was due to take place in Colorado Springs on the same date will be rescheduled for 2001, taking into account the fact the Winter Games in Salt Lake City will be held in 2002.
The dates of the various meetings will be as follows:
10-13 February:
10th Coordination Commission for the Games of the XXVII Olympiad
14-15 February:
Executive Board of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC)
16-17-18 February:
IOC Executive Board
