IOC to Award 2003 Women & Sports Trophies
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) 2003 Women and Sport Trophies will be awarded on 21 March 2003 by Jacques Rogge, IOC President, and Anita DeFrantz, IOC Member and Chairwoman of the IOC Women and Sport Working Group, in the presence of the members of the Women and Sport Working Group.
The trophy, established in 2000, is awarded annually to a woman or man (former athlete, coach, administrator or journalist) or to an institution or organisation in recognition of her/his/its outstanding contribution to develop, encourage and strengthen the participation of women and girls in physical and sports activities, in coaching, and in administrative and sports leadership structures, as well as the promotion of women’s sport in the media and of women journalists. Five continental trophies and one at world level are awarded.
