IOC President Thomas Bach visits Samsung’s Galaxy Studio

Today IOC President Thomas Bach visited Samsung’s state of the art “Galaxy Studio” on  the Sochi 2014 Olympic Park, where visitors have the opportunity to interact with  Samsung's latest technology and connect with the Olympic Games.

Worldwide Olympic Partner Samsung, in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee, has also created a digital doorway into the Olympic spirit via its “Samsung Smart Olympic Games Initiative” for the athletes, officials and staff at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, as well as fans worldwide.

As part of the initiative, the IOC and Samsung have provided all Olympic athletes with the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the official Olympic Winter Games phone, giving athletes a wayto capture and share their Games experiences, while also providing helpful, preloaded competition and logistical information.

In addition, the Samsung Wireless Olympic Works (WOW) is a wireless innovation developed specifically to ensure that every member of the Olympic family will be provided with real-time updates, group messaging and other crucial information to help manage the Games-time operations seamlessly. Samsung’s unique communications platform will also be available to the general public for Sochi 2014.

The Public WOW app aims to involve sports fans around the world with the Games and provide fast and reliable information about all of the events.

“In working with Samsung, we see a tremendous opportunity to make the Olympic Games a meaningful part of the global digital landscape and lifestyle today, and in exciting new ways in the future,” said Timo Lumme, Managing Director, IOC Television & Marketing Services. “Not only will the programme create efficiencies in the day-to-day operation of the Games, but it will also encourage more people to make personal connections to the Olympic Spirit.”

To further engage with fans around the world, the GALAXY Team, consisting of more than 80 promising athletes from 20 countries, has promoted the Olympic Movement and enabled interaction with supporters through Samsung’s products and interactive games to make Sochi 2014 the most connected Games ever.
