IOC President teams up with Wawrinka and Bacsinszky in Lausanne Grand Slam
The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach met with the two Swiss tennis stars Stanislas Wawrinka (winner of two Grand Slam tournaments, doubles gold medallist at the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 and winner of the 2014 Davis Cup for Switzerland) and Timea Bacsinszky (French Open semi-finalist in 2015) today in Lausanne.
Wawrinka and Bacsinszky were receiving the City of Lausanne Prize, the city’s highest distinction awarded every three years to one or more personalities who have helped to promote the city. Both athletes call Lausanne home.
President Bach talked about the exceptional year for the two athletes and praised their involvement in projects like the Youth Olympic Games 2020, recently awarded to Lausanne, and their contribution to promoting their country and city worldwide.
