IOC operational team visits Turin
An operational team led by IOC Olympic Games Executive Director Gilbert Felli is meeting today in Turin with the management team of the Turin Organising Committee (TOROC). The overall goals of the meeting will be the presentation of the progress made since the last coordination meeting in June and the identification of the main tasks ahead.
The meeting takes place as an intermediary step between the last Coordination Commission visit in June 2003 and the next one in January 2004. The key topics to be dealt with will be the status of the test events, the volunteer plan, an update on venue and transportation capacity, as well as press operations, marketing, communication, the competition schedule, the progress made in construction, security, accommodation and accreditation. The torch relay project will be discussed in a separate meeting.
Meeting with regional and local authorities
On Wednesday a meeting will take place between Jean-Claude Killy, Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission, Gilbert Felli, the TOROC administration, led by President Valentino Castellani and regional as well as local authorities including the President of the Piedmont Region, Enzo Ghigo, the President of the Province of Turin, Mercedes Bresso, and the Mayor of Turin, Sergio Chiamparino.
