IOC Executive Board meetings in Madrid

The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee will convene this week in Madrid. The meeting will take place in the Palacio Municipal de Congresos where the International Sports Convention organised by SportAccord, gathering together sports leaders and organizations, is currently being held.

On their arrival in Madrid yesterday, EB members, the Presidents of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), of the Association of the International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) and of the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), Messrs Oswald, Fasel and Kim, together with IOC Honorary President for life, Juan Antonio Samaranch, were granted an audience by the King of Spain at the Palacio de la Zarzuela.

Today, 15 May, the EB will meet with the International Olympic Summer and Winter Sports Federations and with the council of GAISF. A joint press conference with the IOC President and the Presidents of the three Associations will be held at 6.30 p.m.

The EB will then continue its meeting on 16 and 17 May, hearing the reports by the IOC directors and commissions, and receiving updates from the Organising Committees of the forthcoming Olympic Games, as well as signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the IOC and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Updates on the meetings will be posted on a regular basis.
