Hearing of Greek athletes postponed

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today announced that the Disciplinary Commission investigating the nature and circumstances of alleged anti-doping rule violations committed by Konstantinos Kenteris and Ekatarina Thanou, has decided to postpone both hearings until Wednesday 18 August in the morning.

Not medically fit
During the meeting that took place this morning at the Hilton Hotel in Athens, the legal representatives of the athletes stated that the athletes were not medically fit to attend today but personally, and on their behalf, committed that they will attend the hearing in person on Wednesday 18 August.

Fair process
The Disciplinary Commission's decision was made to ensure a fair process and give due consideration to the athletes.

Further steps
After the hearing, the Disciplinary Commission will be responsible for presenting a report and recommendations to the IOC Executive Board, the body which has the authority to take a decision on such cases.
