In no less than ten days, four additional important sponsors and suppliers have joined Turin 2006. As Official Sponsor, Berloni will provide furnishings for the three Olympic Villages, five Media Villages, 18 press rooms and the offices of the Turin Organising Committee (TOROC); Recchi Ingegneria a Partecipazioni will become the Official Supplier in the engineering consulting sector; Nortel Networks will be the Official Supplier connecting more than 12,000 telephone lines; and Intercom-Dr Leitner will act as Official Supplier for ice and snow production as well as transport on the slopes.
The new sponsor and supplier agreements show the huge requirements in infrastructure for an event like the Olympic Games. In the three Olympic Villages in Turin, Sestriere and Bardonecchia and in five of the six Media Villages in Turin, around 8,500 wardrobe spaces and beds will be needed. In the main media centres, 1,800 work tables are required, while in the sports facilities and the press rooms connected to them there will be some 6,970 tables and approximately 20,000 chairs made available.
Large requirement for telephones
Each competition venue will need about 400 telephones; a further 1,500 telephones will be required at the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) and about 700 at the Main Press Centre (MPC).
