Sochi 2014, Olympic News

After its first appearance at the Innsbruck 2012 Youth Olympic Games, the young discipline of women’s ski jumping will, for the first time, be on the programme of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014. Its international development was punctuated by the setting-up of the first FIS World Cup in the 2011-12 season; and it was an 18-year-old American who won the crystal globe: Sarah Hendrickson, who was also crowned world champion in Val Di Fiemme in 2013.

Worldwide TOP Partner Visa launched its first Olympic advertising spot featuring  Sarah Hendrickson, who is a Team Visa athlete. The commercial – called Flying – shows Sarah as she soars through the air. Visa has supported the U.S. Women’s Ski Jumping Team since its founding in 2004 and will continue to do so as the sport makes its Olympic debut in Sochi. Visa has been a TOP Partner since the IOC’s global sponsorship programme began in 1985 and is the exclusive payment services sponsor of the Games.

In our second special video, Sarah, passionate about her sport, explains all the aspects of it, giving technical details to perform a big jump. “Not many people can say that they fly 130 metres in the air”, she says with stars in her eyes. Fasten your seatbelts, instant take-off! Get on the jump with Sarah Hendrickson, speed down the ramp and take off!
