First IOC orientation seminar to open in Vancouver

The first IOC/Vancouver 2010 Orientation Seminar will take place from 13 to 15 November in Vancouver.

Organised by the IOC's Olympic Games Knowledge Services (OGKS), the seminar will feature a number of IOC representatives and technical experts to provide those involved in the planning of the Vancouver 2010 Games with information on the Olympic Movement and past and upcoming Games. It is the first time that such a meeting is held as early in the Games preparations process. Vancouver was awarded the XXI Olympic Winter Games last July.

The IOC President, Jacques Rogge, who was expected to go to Vancouver to attend the seminar and the opening of the Weightlifting World Championships scheduled from 14 to 22 November, has decided to postpone his visit due to a heavy flu that prevents him from traveling.
