Education through Sport Forum, 24 August 2002 in Wiesbaden (Germany)

The International Olympic Committee, and its Commission for Culture and Olympic Education, is organising an "Education through Sport" international Forum on 24 August 2002 in Wiesbaden, Germany. This Forum has been arranged in the build up to the year 2003, which was declared "Year of Sport and Culture" by the 113th IOC Session.

The aim of this Forum is to remind people, at all levels, that sport is, and must remain, a means of educating young people. Sport practised within the rules of ethics and fair play develops strong adolescents, both morally and physically.

In addition to representatives of the Olympic Family (IOC, IFs, NOCs and OCOGs), this important event will bring together personalities such as Mr Roland Koch, Minister from the Land of Hesse in Germany, and Mrs Yu Wei, Vice-Minister of the Chinese Ministry of Education, as well as Olympic champions such as Ms So-Hee Kim, short track speed skating champion from Korea, and Mrs Birgit Fischer, canoe/kayak flatwater champion from Germany.
