Dow helps make Olympic history as Official Carbon Partner of Sochi 2014

Worldwide Olympic Partner Dow has helped make Olympic history in its role as Official Carbon Partner of the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee.

Embracing the challenge of this unique role since March 2013, Dow has offset the entire travel footprint of athletes, spectators and media – a first in the history of the Olympic Games – through a portfolio of offset projects. Respecting the global spirit of the Games, this portfolio includes offset projects from Russia, Brazil and South Korea – countries that will host the next three Olympic Games.

As part of this commitment to setting new standards for minimising the Games’ impact on the climate, Dow’s “Sustainable Future” programme enabled carbon neutrality of Sochi 2014’s direct emissions by also implementing technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and bring innovations to three key areas of the Russian economy: infrastructure, agriculture and industry.

In addition, science-based solutions and technologies from Dow are being used in all competition venues of the Coastal Cluster, the Main Media Centre, the Sanki Sliding Centre, RusSki Gorki Jumping Centre and in various infrastructure projects throughout Sochi and the Krasnodar region.
