Death of Philipp von Schoeller, IOC Honorary Member since 2000

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is greatly saddened to learn of the death of Philipp von Schoeller, at the age of 86.
Elected as an IOC member in 1977, he was a member of the following Commissions: Finance (1989-2000), Olympic Programme, “IOC 2000” (1999), Study and Evaluation for the Preparation of the Olympic Games (1984-1988), and Cultural (1981-1984), before becoming an honorary member in 2000.
An Austrian horse-riding champion and industrialist, Philipp von Schoeller was a board member of various companies. He chaired the Austrian Federal Chamber of Commerce, Industry Section, from 1971 to 1990, the ICC-International Maritime Bureau in London from 1985 to 1998, and was President of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris in 1982.
The IOC expresses its deepest sympathy to Philipp von Schoeller's family.
