Daimler Chrysler extends agreement with IOC
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today announced that DaimlerChrysler AG has renewed its Olympic Supplier Agreement through to 31 December 2012.
As Official Supplier to IOC, DaimlerChrysler provides Mercedes-Benz vehicles for all IOC operations in Switzerland and the various meetings around the world (outside Olympic host countries). The company also helps the IOC with further financial support for environmental, humanitarian and social activities in several Asian, African, South American and East European countries.
"We are very happy about this long-standing and proven cooperation. This is more than sponsorship. For the IOC, this is indeed a strategic partnership and a close alliance,” said IOC President Jacques Rogge.
More than 80 National Olympic Committees
DaimlerChrysler is a long-term supporter of the Olympic Movement, and has been anOfficial Supplier to the IOC since 1991. DaimlerChrysler has supported more than 80 National Olympic Committees on all five continents since 1996 by providing vehicles to take athletes to training facilities and competition venues.
Key areas of support
The Olympic Supplier programme aims to provide further key areas of support and products required by the IOC for its operations. The Suppliers arrangement is geared towards assisting the IOC in its governance of the Olympic Movement and support of the athletes.
