Conference in Turin: Sport and the Environment

Given the success of previous editions, a World Conference on Sport and the Environment will be organised by the International Olympic Committee in Turin, Italy, on 2 and 3 December 2003, in cooperation with the Organising Committee of the XX Olympic Winter Games (TOROC) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Partnerships for sustainable development
The conference will have the theme "Partnerships for sustainable development", and ways in which the Olympic Movement can better apply its Agenda 21 will be examined during the various sessions. The environment being the third dimension of Olympism, this event is the ideal occasion to gather together the Olympic Movement and its partners and to take concrete measures in this area.

Final declaration
The climax of the conference will be the closing ceremony, when the Conference Chairman, Pál Schmitt will invite the IOC President Jacques Rogge, the TOROC President Valentino Castellani and Italian Olympic Committee President Gianni Petrucci to speak. At this ceremony, the final declaration will be adopted.
