Chinese President XI Jinping arrives in Lausanne for official visit to the IOC

The Chinese President Xi Jinping was welcomed to the IOC and the Olympic Capital of Lausanne this evening by IOC President Thomas Bach. 

President Xi who arrived by train at Lutry station, having given the key note address at the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier today, is the first Chinese Head of State to visit the International Olympic Committee.

Also at the station to welcome him was the President of the State Council of Vaud, Pierre-Yves Maillard.

As the first stage of the visit President Xi and President Bach held talks over dinner this evening in Lausanne. Symbolic of the close cooperation between China and the IOC the menu consisted of a series of courses of Chinese and European cuisine.

The official visit to the International Olympic Committee will continue tomorrow with bilateral talks and a visit to the Olympic Museum.
