Chicago to host XVIIth Annual Olympic Collectors Fair
The XVIIth Annual Collectors Fair will be held in Chicago from August 4 – 7, 2011, and will be the first Collectors Fair to be hosted in North America. The Fair will be co-hosted by the Olympin Collectors Club, the world’s largest Olympic collectors club, and held in conjunction with the National Sports Collectors Convention, the largest sports collector event in the world.
The International Olympic Committee began hosting annual Olympic Collectors Fairs in 1996 in recognition of the importance of collecting Olympic stamps, coins and memorabilia. In fact, the late honorary President of the IOC Juan Antonio Samaranch built a superb Olympic stamp collection. These Fairs have been enormously popular and have been held all over the world including in Switzerland, Korea, Germany, China, Brazil and Poland.
In 2011 the Fair will be held at the Rosemont Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois and over 100 tables featuring Olympic items are expected, making the 2011 Fair the biggest ever for Olympic collectors.
