Celebrities share olympic emotions in IOC campaign 'Celebrate Humanity'


The International Olympic Committee (IOC) launched the new rendition of its global promotional campaign, “Celebrate Humanity”, to be shown in the lead up to the upcoming Athens 2004 Olympic Games.




Hope, dreams and inspiration
The 2004 Celebrate Humanity campaign highlights the Olympic values of hope, dreams and inspiration, joy in effort, friendship and fair play, as told through emotive narratives by internationally recognised spokespeople.




Mandela, Bocelli, Reeve, Annan and Lavigne
The campaign's spokespeople, who have each received critical acclaim in their respected fields include Nobel Peace Prize Winner Nelson Mandela of South Africa, tenor Andrea Bocelli of Italy, actor, Christopher Reeve of the United States of America, United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan* of Ghana and musician, Avril Lavigne of Canada.




Voice of the Olympic ideals
These personalities serve as a voice for the Olympic ideals and invite the world to celebrate the moving and memorable moments of the Olympic Games, as well as the remarkable inspiration and achievements of Olympic athletes. Each tells his/her personal interpretation of the Olympic experience.




Jacques Rogge : “Emotions and passion”
"Celebrate Humanity engages our emotions and passion for the Olympic Games", said the IOC President Jacques Rogge. "We are delighted to have such a group of esteemed individuals assist in promoting the Olympic ideals. They bring a new dimension to the campaign and remind us the Games touch every one of us regardless of our background and activity. This is what makes them universal.”




Five TV and three print adds
This year’s campaign comprises five television and three print executions available in numerous languages for the global broadcast and print media.




Saatchi&Saatchi
The international team of Saatchi & Saatchi developed and produced the 2004 Celebrate Humanity campaign. The campaign will be aired by the IOC’s global broadcast partners and other media outlets in the lead up to the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
