Candidatures for Election to the IOC Athletes' Commission - Liston Bochette Withdraws; Manuela Di Centa Reprimanded

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) was informed today of the withdrawal by Mr Liston Bochette (Puerto-Rico - Bobsleigh) of his candidature for election to the IOC Athletes’ Commission. Mr Bochette was one of the eleven athletes standing for election to the Commission during the XIX Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

The IOC Executive Board also approved the reprimand sent by the Election Committee to Ms Manuela Di Centa (Italy - skiing) as a result of her chef de mission’s having sent a letter to the chefs de mission of other National Olympic Committees (NOCs), making reference to Ms Di Centa’s candidature for election to the Athletes’ Commission. The campaign rules, drafted and approved by the Athletes’ Commission, limit allowable campaign activities. Ms Di Centa remains a candidate.
